How long have you been at Mannings?
I’ve been at Mannings for some time, although I worked for the previous owner from 1981, I was here to witness Mrs. Manning take over the business in 1993. During that time I’ve been able to watch the establishment grow and improve into the renowned restaurant, bar and accommodation provider it is today.
What is your favourite part of the job?
One of the best things a career can offer is diversity and I feel my position at Manning’s offers an exciting way of life. You never know what’s around the corner and it keeps you on your toes—it’s one of the reasons I’ve been so happy in my job role. As Mannings is one of the most respected hotels in the city and surrounding areas, we see so many satisfied customers leaving after a stay with us. It’s a great feeling to know that you’ve contributed towards that.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at Mannings?
I have many hobbies, but being outside in the Cornish fresh air is one of my favourite ways to spend time. Whether it’s a few rounds of golf or walking the hound, I jump at any opportunity to make the most of my fantastic surroundings.
What do you love about being in Truro?
As Cornwall’s only city, Truro has a special charm to it. It’s great to be able to experience city life, while breathing in country air and being within reach of gorgeous beaches and cobble-stoned towns.
What are your tips for the perfect break?
My best piece of advice would be to try our new Mannings Weekender break which will be launched in the Autumn. It’s going to offer customers the opportunity for a great value stay with free gated parking, complimentary cocktail vouchers on arrival and money off in our restaurant.
What makes Mannings the best hotel?
There are several things that I’d say allow us to stand out from the crowd. We have a great location in Truro city centre and we offer excellent food which is always changing with our seasonal menus and creative chefs. And of course, we have really great staff members!
