If there’s one thing we love it’s shopping. Not only do we love shopping, our customers love shopping! Following the success of our recent boutique shopping break with Magpie & Fox we’ve noticed we’re the shopping pit stop in the city for mothers and daughters or friends to visit for lunch or coffee to stop and refresh from all of the shopping activity. On another note, have you noticed how many calories you’re burning whilst shopping? We’ve been keeping an eye on our FitBits and it’s seriously better than gym membership! We say put the gym money into coffees, lunches and lovely new additions to the wardrobe!
We’ve put together our favourite shops in Truro to help you get started on your shopping spree in the city. Here’s ten of our favourites:
We simply adore Illustrated Living! This pretty gift and homeware store is in Lemon Street Market, just a short walk from Mannings and we want it all! From lights and vases to kitchen accessories, mugs and wrapping paper that you just want to frame, it’s all so beautiful, we’re obsessed!
Obviously we’re massive magpie fans! It’s THE place to find the latest fashions, the style 101 and ensure you’re getting quality classics built to last. Did you know owner Amber also offers sessions where she styles her customers so she can help you choose what suits your figure and style. Make sure you say hi to gorgeous dachshund puppy Buckley if you visit!
A staple style shop in Truro, BP have been around for 15 years so women have been shopping there and lunching at Mannings for quite a few years! Run by a mother daughter team, there really is that combination of classic and modern styles with names such as Paul Smith, Weekend by MaxMara, Armani Jeans, J Brand, Duffy and Petit Bateau. We love the stylish team at Bishop Phillpott and we’re always guaranteed to feel fabulous after a visit! Also, they are on the same strip as the Great Escape Spa and just minutes from No 3 Champagne Nail Bar – what better excuse for a shopping and pamper afternoon in Truro?
Nothing beats a good book! We love browsing the books at Waterstones for an afternoon then buying one and returning to Mannings, sitting in a window seat, ordering a Cappuccino and getting stuck into a new novel…bliss! Lately we’ve also been getting our stationery fix from Waterstones too, it’s all so pretty!
We heart the White Company! We fantasise over having that perfect White Company life with the mercury candelabra, scented candles and silk dressing gowns – we never quite pull it off as well but hey, a girl can dream! We’re loving their new spa range – we think one of their Relax candles plus our indulgent bath in room 37 equals the perfect evening.
Plum Boutique is another independent fashion store in Truro. Not only do they stock a lovely array of clothing, they also have the Cornish skincare range ‘InLight’. We seriously love their recent clutch bags too!
We have a secret crush on Little Boutique. It’s a combination of fantastic fashion and an abundance of Cath Kidston goodies. We’re thinking about setting up a direct debit for all the gorgeous bits we want every month! Ps the best bit is that most of the clothes are ‘one size’ made in Italy so they fit every size!
We couldn’t feature our favourite boutiques without mentioning our neighbours could we? We’re big fans of Michael Spiers (diamonds…need we say more!) but it turns out we’re not alone. Lord Alan Sugar himself has been praising Michael Spiers on his Twitter account for being the best place to buy watches! Well… we don’t know about watches but did we mention diamonds?
The Bay Tree in Cathedral Lane is our secret recommendation to everyone as we’re shocked at the number of people who still don’t know it exists! With cake tins that make you want to bake and cushions that make you want to kick back on the sofa, this is home heaven. We seriously love everything this shop offers!
L’Occitane is impossible to walk past without entering, the smell is simply intoxicating! A stunning French brand with scents such as lavender, neroli and shea butter, we can’t get enough of their body oils, bath soaks and face scrubs. We might need to pop in there whilst writing this actually to do some “market research!”
Which are your favourite boutiques in Truro? Share with us so we can investigate and make sure we’re in the know! After all, we’re at the hub of it all eagerly looking to see what shopping bags our customers are bringing into the restaurant at lunch time. Celine at front of house keeps a keen eye on where’s hot to shop so expect her to know the down-low of what’s hot down town! Oh and by the way, did we mention we have a new lunch menu? See you on your next shopping spree!
