Summer in the City: Fun things to do in Truro

It’s summer in the city and the weather is hot! When the weather gets hot it’s a fab time to escape to the beach but if you’re not someone who likes tanning on the sand or you would rather not face the traffic heading to Newquay, we’ve put together some suggestions of things to do right on our doorstep. Here are our top ways to spend a day in Truro in the summer:

Shopping

A day shopping is always a fun day spent and we’re always more likely to purchase something bright and exciting when the sun is shining. Favourite summer shops include Accessorize, Joules and the White Company – their Seychelles candle is summer summed up in a scent! Why not have lunch at Mannings afterwards and people-watch over a bottle of wine.

Read a book

We always fancy reading a novel when the sun comes out. Head to Waterstones and pick up one of the bestsellers then wander along to Victoria Gardens and find a bench to curl up on. Or take a picnic blanket and some breads and cheeses and spend the afternoon there.

Get a pedicure

When the sun is out, summer toes are a must! Head to No 3 Champagne Nail Bar and treat yourself to a pedicure in their luxury massage chair with a glass of fizz. Go for a nice pop of colour as you’ll be having your feet out more and more now that summer is here.

Head to Malpas

Malpas is a stunning place to spend the day. Whether you wander the village, have a bite to eat at The Heron or simply feed the ducks at the duck pond, it’s the most picturesque view of Truro. The best position is sat on the riverbank at Boscawen Park with a Kelly’s ice cream, watching the boats

Get on a boat

Better still, get on a boat! The Enterprise Boat will take you to Falmouth or St Mawes without the stuffiness of a car or the traffic queues. There is nothing better than being on board with the breeze on your face watching the water go by!

Relax with a drink in the sun

Of course the best way to enjoy summer in the city is to enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine al fresco. What a lot of people don’t know is that at Mannings, we have an outdoor area for guests to relax and enjoy a drink. Our Urban Garden is situated next to our apartments and is the perfect place to soak up a few rays with the morning paper and a cappuccino in peace and quiet.

There’s no doubt about it, a summer in the city is the best summer of all! We’re close enough to St Ives, Falmouth and Newquay for you to enjoy day trips but return to our stylish city hotel in the centre of Truro. Mini-break in the city for the summer? Call us on 01872 270345 to check availability!
